Company Information

DCN was launched in 1970 by David Norris (Managing Director) and his father Douglas Norris and has been at the forefront of the Food Processing Industry ever since.   

David Norris was instrumental in presenting the Cook Chill Concept to the fast growing market for Ready Meals in the UK and Europe.  The concept has since been developed and sold by DCN around the world for foodservice installations and other large centralised kitchens for chilled meal manufacturing.

Today, DCN employ over 100 people and manufacture some of the largest food processing plants worldwide.

The Company continues to bring innovative new developments to the industry to make food processing more efficient in today’s world.

Timeline

1970  D C Norris & Company set-up business on Caxton Road Industrial Estate

1971  First Can-Opener designed for the food industry

1974  moved to larger premises at Sand Road Industrial Estate

1985  First Cook –Chill system sold

1986  First Sous Vide manufactured and shipped to USA

1988  First Exhibition Foodex  

1989  New offices & factory built – doubled manufacturing capacity

1990  Designed anchor cooling system

1992  Pioneered the Vacuum Pressure System for the food industry

1997  First Cook Quench Chill Machine -  linear then automatic

2000  Large extension built with new offices

2001  New Product development kitchen built

2005  Recipe Manager Software System developed

2006  Jet Cook Steam Infusion System developed 

2008  Acquired new building – Gy-Roll expanding manufacturing capacity further

2015  DCN North America launched

2016  Winner of Exporter of the Year Award

2017   Winner of Processing and Packaging Machinery Manufacturer of the Year

            First Overseas Product Development Facility Launched in South Africa
